When using one hand or two hands for fencing, timing, distance and footwork are very important

Many sword techniques cannot be followed on from stick techniques as swords have a sharp edge to them and attempting to 'cross over' in technique from sticks will result in getting cut
However some sword techiques can be incorporated into stick techniques
Weapon skills are also depended upon the movement of the wrist
The nature of the weapon itself effects how the weapon is used, size, weight, pointed, edge, blunt. Everything comes into play, in as to how that weapon at hand is used
